"Heavenly Oboe"

recorded
April 14, 2001

On April 14, 2001, a second benefit concert was held at the Central Church of the Nazarene in San Jose.

John Mack, world renowned oboist, and pianist Elizabeth DeMio, traveled from Cleveland, Ohio, to present an absolutely wonderful program. Mr. Mack has been Principal Oboist of the Cleveland Orchestra since 1965 and is considered one of the preeminent oboists playing in the world today. He also chairs the Oboe Department at Cleveland Institute.

This recording is great testimony to the skill with which the oboe can be played.

  • John Mack, Principal Oboe, Cleveland Orchestra, and Chairman, Oboe Department, Cleveland Institute. Missy attended a week long Master Class in Carmel in 1997 with Mr. Mack.
  • Liz DeMio, piano faculty member at Cleveland Institute, frequent soloist, and frequent collaborator with Mr. Mack.

This program provided a wonderful opportunity to hear a great master of the oboe performing these beautiful pieces:

  • Concerto Grosso #8 in Bb Major by G. F. Handel
  • French Suite by Alan Richardson
  • The Winter's Passed by Wayne Barlow
  • Sonata for Oboe and Piano by William Alwyn
  • Sonatine by Maurice Ravel
  • Melissa's Song by Paul F. Page

CDs are available for $15 for one CD or $12.50 per CD for any number more than one (ie, three total CDs - one of each or three of the same one - would be $37.50).

To order, send note indicating which CDs you want, where you want them sent, and a check payable to "Missy Belton Memorial Music Fund" to Steve Belton, 872 Russet Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94087. (I'm sorry that we are not set up to take internet orders)
