March 2, 2002
On March 2, 2002, a third benefit concert was held at the Central Church of the Nazarene in San Jose.
Nancy Ambrose King, Associate Professor of Oboe at the University of Michigan, frequent soloist, and a recording artist for Boston Records, presented a program that was stunningly beautiful, wonderfully expressive, and a great demonstration of the oboe's full range of tonal possibilities. Nancy has a reputation for being not only a great performer but also a great teacher.
- Nancy Ambrose King, Associate Professor of Oboe, University of Michigan, met Missy during a Master Class in 1998.
- Rachel Jensen, piano faculty member at Illinois Wesleyan University, holds a doctorate in Vocal Coaching and Accompanying, and is a frequent collaborator with Nancy Ambrose King among others.
This program provided a wonderful opportunity to hear a great master of the oboe performing these beautiful pieces:
- Adagio and Allegro, Opus 70 by Robert Schumann
- Etudes pour Hautbois by Gilles Silvestrini
- Sonatina for Oboe and Piano by Malcolm Arnold
- Sonata in G minor by J. S. Bach
- Morceau de Salon for Oboe and Piano by J. W. Kalliwoda
- Tango by Astor Piazzola
CDs are available for $15 for one CD or $12.50 per CD for any number more than one (ie, three total CDs - one of each or three of the same one - would be $37.50).
