Benefit concerts were initiated in the spring of 2000 with two objectives in mind. One goal was to raise money for the scholarship Funds that had been created in Missy's memory at the two schools Missy had attended. The other goal was to give family and friends an opportunity to join together with Steve and Wanda to remember Missy in a setting that Missy herself had so loved and enjoyed.

Each concert relied upon the gift of wonderful performers with whom Missy had studied or performed. The first concert included works for a variety of instruments and groupings. The second and third concerts were solo recitals by internationally acclaimed oboists with whom Missy had studied.

This first benefit concert was held at the Central Church of the Nazarene in San Jose. A wonderfully peaceful and relaxing set of musical pieces were performed by a group of individuals who each had a unique connection to Missy.

A second benefit concert was held the next year at the Central Church of the Nazarene in San Jose. World renowned oboist John Mack (with Liz DeMio on piano) gave a stunning performance in this solo recital of beautiful oboe music. Missy had attended a week-long master class with Mr. Mack in 1997.

On March 2, 2002, a third benefit concert was held at the Central Church of the Nazarene in San Jose. Nancy Ambrose King joined us from the University of Michigan (with Rachel Jensen on piano) for a stellar and exciting evening of oboe music ranging from Bach (1685-1750) to Silvestrini (b. 1959). Missy had studied oboe in a master class with Nancy in 1998.
